Description

Tan Tolga Demirci (born in 1974, Istanbul), an Istanbul based surrealist artist, awarded movie director (1 full-length and 11 Short  movies), published writer and lecturer. His first solo Photographic Collage exhibition ‘Surrealism & Collages’ was held in Istanbul in 2019. His three works were exhibited in ‘International Collage Art Exhibition 2020’ in Retroavangarda Gallery, Warsaw.

As specialized in modern art, psychoanalysis and cinematography for +30 years, in his Photographic Collages, he calls the audience to a mind revolution which is inspired by dream sequences, paranoiac-critical method, psychoanalysis & mythology and black humor. He uses domestic objects that protect the standard perception function from falling apart and give them an automated working principle and he tries to formulate the fact that each object has presented its own body to all of the established perceptions only through another object / objects embedded in its own memory. He believes the object will gain its own independence only by the liberation of the rational perception that is connected to it parasitically.

All his works are hand signed and certified limited edition analog prints that are developed by chemical liquids as analog photography.

Currently, Tan Tolga Demirci is working on his new collage series and a full length movie scenario project. By the end of 2021, he prepares to publish his second book which is about the history and theory of surrealist cinema.
